About the Portfolio

This portfolio of projects, papers and presentations represents a culmination of the work that I EurainClogsundertaken in order to complete my Master’s in Library and Information Science at Emporia State University’s School of Library and Information Management (SLIM).  Each course helped to answer the information need that I started with as an incoming information science student. Every artifact, or assignment, has given me another experience that will lead to me becoming a better information professional.

Below you will find the master’s outcomes that are presented to SLIM students when they begin their studies.  The courses that we took touch on the outcomes and the assignments that we were given allow us to better understand the different aspects of library and information management.

1. Articulates a philosophy of client-centered information services based on the epistemological and ethical foundations of the library and information profession.

2. Explains and applies interdisciplinary theories and models relevant to managing library and information service agencies.

3. Conducts an information needs assessment, and design and evaluate customized information services and products based on those needs.

4. Based on a diagnosed need, retrieves, interprets, and/or repackages relevant information resources, and evaluates their use and impact.

5. Leads appropriate change by using effective collaborative communication and organizational skills.

6. Teaches information literacy skills in order to facilitate effective learning organizations.

7. Demonstrates life-long learning skills by continually acquiring new knowledge, skills, and perspectives to respond to changing conditions.

8. Communicates effectively in writing, orally, and in using information technologies.
